Swansboro, CA
The Swansboro Sentinel hosted a SCPOA candidate Meet & Greet on December 9th at 6:30 PM at the Mosquito Fire Station. There were four candidates who participated: Melissa Stever, Karen Paul, David Dudley and Meredith Blain. There were 35 members of the audience. Gene Bowen was the moderator and laid down the questioning procedure. The very first thing Gene did was to invite any other SCPOA candidate in the audience to join the other candidates at the head table. There were no takers.
The candidates first gave summaries of their mission statements and why they were running for board positions. A common theme emerging from all four candidates was their desire to return the SCPOA board to an atmosphere of respect, cooperation and harmony in our small community.
The candidates then took questions from members of the audience. A total of four questions were asked of the candidates, including an interesting question about divisiveness in the community – asked by Carmen Barney.
The Sentinel noted that current SCPOA board members, David Strick and Wayne Gregson, and potential SCPOA candidate Gerry Pullin and Carmen Barney were also present. After the question and answer period, the attendees had the opportunity to discuss issues with the candidates on a face-to-face basis. Coffee and cake were offered, compliments of Eileen Reisner and the Fire Fighters. Thanks also go out to the Mosquito Fire Fighters for the work of setup and takedown, and to Chief Rosevear for his graciousness in allowing us to use the station for this event.
