Firefighters Pancake Breakfast Raises $1,500 for New District Auxiliary (D’Ax)

January 12th, 2023 – Swansboro, California
By Tom Harris

The Mosquito Firefighters hosted breakfast at the station on Saturday, January 7th.  The Firehouse breakfast event goes back many years, and at one point became a monthly practice.  The current Mosquito Fire Department would like to make the Breakfast a regular event again.

There were plenty of goodies and swag offered for sale.

These cooperative events prove to residents that, no matter what may separate us, we’re still families, friends, and neighbors.

This was the first event sponsored by the newly formed Mosquito District Auxiliary (D’Ax) and raised over $1,500 from meal and swag sales and donations.  All the equipment used for these events was purchased with donations from District residents during the Mosquito fund drive last month sponsored by the Swansboro Pilots Association (SPA).  The pilots raised over $12,000 for their efforts.

Special thanks go out to the board of directors of the new District Auxiliary. It is organized as a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity (filing in process). It supports the Mosquito Fire Protection District (MFPD) exclusively. The founding members of the Mosquito District Auxiliary are Meredith Blain, President; Dee Harris, Vice President;  Melissa Stever, Treasurer; Diane Brady, Secretary, and Devon Beesley, Communications Director.  Our community thanks them for their service, and for helping to restore the original idea that formed this community: friendship, volunteerism, and hard work.
