The Sentinel Attends the Sierra Symphony

The purpose of this article is to publicly inform all dues-paying residents of the Swansboro Country Property Owners Association (SCPOA) of matters of interest to our community.
Last Sunday, April 23, the Sentinel attended an extraordinary concert by the Sierra Symphony. What makes this event even more interesting is that two Swansboro residents play in this orchestra:

This event was titled the “Young Artist Concert”, and featured a local thirteen-year-old pianist. The young man played Mozart’s Piano Concerto number 12, by heart of course. It was inspiring to see a musician so young with such a confident command of the piano. Bassoonist Jeanine Kobza, and violinist Rachel Eldridge, (nee Galvan). Plus, it was fun to see Rachel’s parents Chuck and Elaine as well as other Swansboro residents in attendance.
Jeanine Kobza plays the Bassoon, an unusual woodwind instrument, which seems to fit Jeanine’s temperament just fine. No orchestra is complete without at least one, and Sierra has two. Jeanine took up the instrument only a few years ago, and has played in the Symphony almost as long. Rachel Eldridge plays violin and has done so from a very young age. Rachel has her own studio in Shingle Springs where she gives violin lessons. We’ve seen Rachel at our “Open Mike” sessions at Frank’s Diner, and she always steals the show.
The total number of musicians in the Sierra Symphony is 48! Some are young, some are senior, but that doesn’t matter when the conductor raises the baton. The live music pouring forth envelopes the audience of all ages.
